When and where will the BIG Read take place?
The BIG Read will take place on Thursday 4th March 2010, World Book Day at the London Muslim Centre, 46-92 Whitechapel Road London E1 1JX.
The event begins at 9am and will end at 9pm.
Who can participate?
This event is open to all children aged 5 to 18 years of age. Adults can also register as an official ‘reader’.
What do I have to do to participate?
If you are a child then you will need to listen to an adult reading a section from Roald Dahl’s timeless classic, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ for 30 minutes.
If you are an adult you will be required to read a section from ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ to a group of 35 children for 30 minutes.
Is there a cost to participate?
Yes, all participating children will need to pay a £2 registration fee. This is solely to assist IF with the administration costs of the event.
Is there a closing date to register?
Yes. The latest date all participants need to register for the event is Friday 26th February 2010.

I would like to register to be a reader. How can I do this?
In order to register to become an official reader for the BIG Read please click here.
Note: Any reader should be competent, confident and able to read aloud to a group of 35 children for a period of 30 minutes. Please ensure you fulfil these criteria before contacting us.
When am I (or my School) expected to arrive at the LMC?
All participants should arrive one hour before their scheduled time slot for registration purposes.
How do I get to the LMC?
The London Muslim Centre (LMC) is at 46-92 Whitechapel Road London E1 1JX.
By tube: Aldgate East or Whitechapel (District and Hammersmith & City lines).
By bus: 25 and 205
